Something For You

I learned long ago to count your blessings
much time may pass in between them
Love and friendship is needed more than wealth
without them, you don't have real health

It's easy to wake up and hate the world
placing blame on outside sources
the school of hard knocks is learned as you grow
it's not part of required courses

To wake with a smile on your face
happy to belong, to someone, some place
Some days are harder no matter what you do
Mine became easier, in part, due to you

Weathering the Storm

Tossed upon the waters
Waves crashing over stern
fear of capsizing
has me white knuckled, holding course

Steady now, I'll right this ship
As best as I know how

Lone captain of this vessel
gazing onto the horizon

"Will we make it now?"

Mind Play

Your actions portray
what you fear to speak
I’m left to interpret
and show what you ask

I’ll put miles, not days
between us to let you wallow

in solitude

Thanksgiving Blessing

My wish for you on Thanksgiving Day

May your home be filled with laughter
Your heart filled with love
your mind filled with kind memories
of those watching from above

New Day

This I wrote for a dear friend... may all your days be blessed.

Let the sun come up
and kiss your face
while you say hello
to a new day.

May the breeze blow
gently behind you
to carry you forward
with little effort today
as you enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Veteran's Day

Today is November 11th

Today and everyday, I say thank you to all who serve. Past, present and future.

To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nation.

Winter's Chill

Feel the blows of wintery breeze
Your heart is warmed in thoughts
Knowing she waits at home
Smiling to yourself
as you turn the knob to bliss
A simple peck upon the cheek
visions of what will be
when dinner's done and news is old
She'll warm and keep you from the cold

Smile frozen upon her face
Glistening icicles
Enhance her grace
She’ll warm you
When thighs embrace
To nestle you in
that nice warm place

Moonlight Shivers

Tides roll gently to our feet
Moon providing mood light
in the dunes where we lay

Evidence of a picnic
scattered by the breeze
Passion replacing hunger

Roar of the waves
swallow soft whimpers
Shivers of thrill in unison

We can all use more Wishes

A new blog has appeared and promises to inspire.

I think it will be a nice change to view various wishes from all over the world

and who knows, when you wish hard enough, believe strong enough, anything

is possible

Following The Leader

Casting caution aside

to fulfill what the heart

cries and longs for ,lays

heavy on the mind

The heart chooses

whereand when.

The mind

simply follows

From Broken Spirit to Inner Peace

Have you ever pondered?

Not merely wondered

Why

House taken by fire

Spouse lost desire

Sigh

Dreaded disease

Lord help me please

Cry

Defenseless to harm

A broken arm

Fear

Some withdraw inward

While others simply inspire

When seeking perspective

Thoughts are elective

Remember

There are worse off than you

Beyond

A breeze blows slightly

Sun glaring warm

My body is chilled

I feel you walk through

Your spirit hovers

I’ve felt you before

Calmness washes over

A sign you are here

A thought in my mind

Conjures your visit

You’re familiar to me

An image appears

You’ve wandered a bit

Silence surrounds me

Alone with you now

Your message is blurred

Signs left subliminally

Explained without ease

Struggling with senses

Suddenly you leave

Why?

Behind Kind Eyes

Just as the serpent eventually strikes
my wrath will seek it's target
slithering slyly,out of view
waiting for just the right time
Eye to eye, face me now
deny your deserving repentance
circling round you, the scent of fear
anticipation, deadlier than the bite
only dead silence surrounds you

Unspoken

dismal and weary
day blends to night
numbness takes over
No will to fight

No longer the fool
I won't wait to hear
the words you've not spoken
are loud and clear

Descending

In dark of night,
among the trees,
Safety can’t be found
Frantic fear,
dreaded confrontation,
No hideaway in sight

Should I wait,
let you catch me
No longer can I outrun you

Each time, you take a little more
Leaving less spirit than before
No memory left, no tracks to trace
No proof of your existence

I lay down one final time

Internal death sets me free

Angel

Ten fingers and toes
Your name, no one knows

Never nurtured or fed
Plastic bag for a bed

Hidden from view
For a day or two

Ice on the ground
The day you were found

Angelic and sweet
Blue toes on your feet

A miracle they say
Yet, you're cast away

Sleeping Society

Sad to think it does not shock
Accepted almost by many
No longer do we shake our heads
Instead we whisper, Again!

Lack of outrage and horror,
Repeated throughout the world
When will we stop the disrespect
among our brethren?

When did weeping become shame
What’s wrong with outrage now?
Stand together for what’s right
Afraid for our children’s tomorrows

Suppressed

Through shuttered lens
The horror plays
Heartbeat quickens
Beads of sweat form

Rapid breathing
The torment, real
Trying to wake
To end this dream

Each night it comes

Each night , I fail

Pure

Through the eyes of you
Life is so pure
Nothing taken for granted
Everything, new

Your voice sweet, unsure
questions bring smiles
Simple gestures
Thoughts deep, sincere

Show me the world
I'll follow you

I'll learn

Reaching For Surface

Tides constant motion
Caught in despair
Reaching for surface
Burning pain with each exhale

Waves recede
New hope is had
Swimming towards daylight,
I’ll make it this time

Forgotten Heroes

Tattered clothing
hair full of tangle
emaciated face,
tells of woe
Impatient people
quick to degrade
Dismissed as a cause now lost

How does one get here?
A disgrace some will say
Turn away in disgust

Life full of promise
Served proud for us all
Forgotten, as if

No request for this mission
No bed for rest
Scraps of discarded food

Reflections of early years
Battle Hymns played
No questions asked

Too much to deal with
Death all around
Trapped in my mind, forever
No pension or address
Tin cup in hand
Spare a dollar for grub
Serving or begging
both done with pride
For I am a vet, til I die

Heroes

To a woman who raised five girls and always had room in her heart and home for foster children, and made each feel as loved as the other..

Heroes

For granted you were taken
Through our growing years
Caught up in our own lives
How well you hid your tears

Placing us before yourself
Our needs were always met
Sacrafices made daily
Your love we'd always get

I am myself because of you
Examples that you set
Putting others always first
Each felt they were your pet

With every knock on the door
Entered someone new in need
Room was made for just one more
How kind you are indeed

Never once did you complain
When times were tough for you
Your faith, it somehow held you up
And then you carried through

We never knew uncertainty
Felt luckier than some
For this is why my hero
Is you, my loving Mom

The Wonders of Life

Individual, as one
We are born
Touching lives as we go
Never to know our affect
on another, until removed
Desperate to find reason
For existence here
Why should we care?

The circle continues
Generations go on
Yet the first in order
Began the line
Heritage passed down
Traditions handed off
Wonder all the while
What if it stopped

Cease to exist
And the effects start to show
Just how much each brings
To the life of another
Who knows where you’d be
Had each not been there
To aid in each step
Adding to your being

Imagine who you’d be
Without each person
Who has entered your life
Touched you in some way
Helped you through and
Guided with love
Criticized to make you strong
Cried with you in pain

Each thing we do
No matter how small
Touches another in some way
Be careful with judgment
Be carefree with respect
For you never know
Who touches you
Until it’s too late

In Awe

I met a little boy today
He made me laugh and cry
His eyes they sparkled as he spoke
Now I wonder why

Those with little worries
Complain and whine the most
Yet this little wonder
Was such a perfect host

We spoke of sports and little things
Bike-riding and baseball too
Pitching, catching, fielding balls
There’s nothing he won’t do

Worry on his mother’s face
He’s weak and tired now
The only question on my mind
He smiles, happy. How?

You see this child is sick inside
Treatments fill his day
For lesser things most would fall
But that is not his way

I listen to him banter on
Planning far ahead
His dreams are of just one thing
To get up from his bed

My Aunt's a Butterfly

Wonderful colors you display
Hovering ‘round my yard
Without a second thought

I watch you and wonder
Why you’re here
Again, each time I see you

Hours you spend
Fluttering by
As if watching me

Suddenly I realize
She was in awe of you
Now she has returned

Your form she has taken
It’s such a delight
To see you again, now in flight

Whispers Above

Sorrow’s lasting grip, never gone
If this must be the way
I paint a portrait in my mind

Angelic glow permeates
Soundly sleeping on a cloud
Painless drifting above

A haunting ache remains
Your scent still fresh
Or is that a thought

Wishful wanting
Just one more time
One day, one hour

Would never be enough
For greed takes hold
The heart needs more

Sleep well, be safe

Mountains

Majestic are your peaks
Never tire of your scene
Perfect backdrop to a photo
Emotionally serene

Snow gently wraps your shoulders
Like a shawl to keep you warm
Hikers in search of the ultimate
In the winter skiers swarm

When darkness falls upon you
The sky’s forever bright
Stars shine above your crest
Lending light into the night

Endless are your valleys
Respect I give to you
Each time I visit
I’m thankful for the view

Sisters

Patty, this ones for you as a Thanks for always being there.

Always together
Even when apart
A bond so strong
Begins in the heart

Always knowing
You’re there for me
We support each other
When need be

Over the years
We’ve grown so much
Laughing and crying
You’ve been my crutch

I saw you through breakup
You saw me through pain
We take on life’s obstacles
You’ve kept me sane

We get only one go ‘round
This wonderful earth
No dollar value
Can measure your worth

A knowing smile
I understand your thoughts
Thanks for always being there
I love you Lots!

Oceans Roar

Your mist refreshes as you wave
Foam rolls upon my feet
Lovers strolling at your edge

Awestruck by your power
Respectful of your rage
Calming whispers echo

A resting place for those who lost
Their lives just off your shores
Silence reflects their graves

When life turns me inside out
I run to you for comfort
Relief comes instantly

No two bodies are the same
Yet the effect is exact
Inner peace is sought

My Gem

Hailey this ones for you. Don't ever change

Within you is a power
Yet still unknown to you
Turning tears to smiles
Believe me dear, it’s true

Angelic in your early days
Free spirited from birth
In awe of your creative ways
From day one upon this earth

Described to me in a word
Genuine, loving kind
Loyalty to all you love
Unbiased is your mind

Putting others always first
A true friend to all you know
When hearing others comment
It is I who gets to glow

Marching solo to your drum
Like a bird to be set free
Each day brings new adventure
I can hardly wait to see

A fraction of the originals
Our genes are what began
The wonderful person that you’ll become,
I’ve only lent a hand

I have many hopes and dreams for you
And pray both night and day
I do not fear your happiness
Because you have found your way

I thank you for your open heart
You’re valued more each day
I’m proud to call you daughter
No matter where you stray

Be anything you want to be
One thing I’ll ask of you
Let no one tell you what to do
To only you be true

In Time

Surprised by my reaction
I should be overjoyed
Sadness fills my mind

Much time has passed now
Wanting to share happiness
The tears flow freely

A beautiful occurrence
A natural part of life
Hits me like a brick

Sad and happy co-exist
My heart unsure how to feel
Pain I hide from all

Silently suffer alone
The wound re-opens
A little each time

Feelings so familiar
Subconscious takes over
I’ve no control

Selfish thoughts
Allow me some space
In a while, It’ll be fine

A Perfect World

A Perfect World
An unbiased heart of innocence
Sees the likeness of itself
In all humankind, regardless

A perfect place, pure harmony
All realize the world is free
To live ones life as we are born

No difference can be seen
All work towards the same
A peaceful existence

When a heart is pure
The mind is open
This is the earth

The doors are revolving
Enter if you please
Stay for a while

Someday the world will be
A balance of all people
Living as one kind, human
