Tossed upon the waters
Waves crashing over stern
fear of capsizing
has me white knuckled, holding course
Steady now, I'll right this ship
As best as I know how
Lone captain of this vessel
gazing onto the horizon
"Will we make it now?"
Poems are such personal, emotional works. Some are written to be viewed by the writer only, others are meant to be shared, to serve as inspiration to others. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them. I am honored to include the work of a fine writer whose work I have enjoyed for a long time. He has agreed to post some of his prose and poetry here for all of us to enjoy. Welcome to Elwood Jake. Please feel free to share yours or comment on what you read here.

Excellent poem. I could feel my heart race as I often do these days-and taste the salt water on my lips. Your poem gave me courage, and helped me remember that life's obstacles are only part of the adventure- your words helped me embrace the idea of facing the challenges with a capable attitude. Thanks-
Ann

Thank you so much...
You've established a good rhythm here. There is also something unusual, yet quaint, about your line-breaks. Lovely poem altogether.
Thank you, Alina
